Merge Department and Region Excel Reports Into One Master Operations Sheet

Operations managers collecting KPI reports, headcount sheets, or inventory data from multiple departments or locations know the problem: every team sends their own Excel file, every file has slightly different columns, and consolidating them for a leadership review takes more time than the review itself. Deliteful's Excel Combine Sheets tool eliminates that consolidation step.

When five department heads each send a weekly status spreadsheet, you get five files that need to be stacked into one before any analysis is possible. Even if everyone uses the same template, tabs get renamed, extra columns get added, and someone always uses a different date format. Manual consolidation at this scale is a weekly tax on your time that adds zero value to the actual analysis.

Deliteful processes all uploaded workbooks together, reads headers from the first row of every sheet, and produces a single combined worksheet with the column union across all inputs. Rows from sheets missing a column get empty cells. Enable the source-file column and every row is tagged with its origin workbook — so you can filter by department or region in the final report without maintaining a separate tracking column yourself.

How it works

  1. 1

    Collect department submissions

Gather all .xlsx or .xls files from team leads, regional offices, or automated report exports.

  2. 2

Upload all files in one job

Drag everything into Deliteful at once — multiple files and multiple sheets per file are all handled together.

  3. 3

    Tag rows by source

Enable 'Include source file name' so each row is labeled with the department or location file it came from.

  4. 4

    Download the master report

Use the combined sheet directly in your leadership deck, pivot table, or BI tool import.

Frequently asked questions

What if different departments use different column names for the same field?
Deliteful outputs the union of all column names as-is. If two departments call the same field 'Headcount' and 'Employee Count' respectively, these appear as two separate columns. Standardize column naming in your team template to get the cleanest combined output.
Can I combine weekly submissions across multiple periods into one historical sheet?
Yes. Upload all weekly files at once and enable the 'Include source file name' column. Each row will be tagged with its source filename, which typically encodes the period if you name files consistently (e.g. 'ops-report-2024-W12.xlsx').
Does the output preserve any formatting from the original reports?
No — cell formatting, colors, and styles are not preserved. The output is a flat data sheet. If formatted output is required for stakeholder delivery, use the combined data as your source and apply formatting in a separate step.
Is there a size limit on the files I can upload?
Deliteful handles standard business-sized Excel files. Very large workbooks with hundreds of thousands of rows may take longer to process but the tool is designed to handle them.
