Combine Separately Supplied Print-Ready PDFs Into One Prepress Handoff File
Print jobs where covers, inserts, and body sections are supplied as separate PDFs by different designers or departments need to be assembled into a single prepress-ready file before plating. Deliteful's PDF Merge tool combines them in upload order so your handoff to the printer is one complete document.
Print production coordinators regularly receive components of a single job from multiple sources — the cover from a designer, the interior from editorial, and the insert sheet from marketing — each as a separate PDF. Assembling these manually in Acrobat before prepress is a routine but friction-filled step that introduces risk when page order is critical for imposition. A lightweight browser-based merge tool removes that friction without touching your existing prepress software stack.
Deliteful merges PDFs server-side in upload order and returns a single combined PDF. Page content is not re-rendered or downsampled during the merge, which matters for print-ready files where color profiles and bleed must remain intact as supplied. Lossless stream compression is applied on save and does not affect color data. Free accounts are available via Google OAuth; at 1 credit per merge it is practical for daily production workflows.

Frequently asked questions
- Does Deliteful alter color profiles or bleed settings in print-ready PDFs during the merge?
- No. Page content, including embedded color profiles and bleed, is not modified during the merge. The output carries through whatever was in the source files.
- Can I merge a PDF/X cover with a standard PDF interior?
- Deliteful will combine the files, but mixing PDF standards (e.g., PDF/X-1a and standard PDF) in a single merge may produce a file that does not conform to a specific PDF/X standard. Confirm output conformance with your prepress operator if PDF/X compliance is required.
- Will the page count be correct after merging for imposition planning?
- Yes. The merged PDF contains all pages from all uploaded files in sequence. The total page count reflects the sum of all source documents.
- Can I use this to assemble multi-section saddle-stitch booklets from separately supplied PDFs?
- Yes. Upload each section in the correct reading order and the merged PDF provides the complete page sequence your imposition software needs.
