Convert Scanned Court Filings and Exhibits to Searchable Text

Paralegals regularly handle scanned exhibits, filed pleadings, and legacy case documents that arrive as unsearchable image PDFs. Deliteful's PDF OCR → Text tool converts those scans into plain text files you can search, quote, and incorporate into case summaries without manual transcription.

When opposing counsel produces hundreds of scanned pages in discovery, manually locating a single date, name, or dollar figure is a serious time sink. Converting scanned PDFs to plain text lets you run keyword searches across entire document sets, copy precise excerpts into memos, or pipe content into case management systems. For high-volume litigation support, this is a foundational workflow step.

Deliteful processes each scanned PDF server-side and returns a .txt file per input document. Batch uploads support up to 50 files at once, which fits most discovery tranches. OCR accuracy scales with scan quality — documents scanned at 300 DPI or higher from clean originals will yield highly reliable text output.

Frequently asked questions

Can I batch OCR an entire discovery production at once?
Yes. Deliteful supports up to 50 PDFs per batch and up to 2 GB total per batch, which covers most standard discovery tranches.
Will OCR work on faxed documents or low-resolution court scans?
OCR accuracy degrades with low-resolution or faxed scans. Clean, high-resolution scans of typed documents produce the best results. Blurry or very light documents may yield incomplete text.
Does the tool extract text from Bates-stamped pages correctly?
Bates stamps are printed text and will be extracted along with the document body. You may need to strip them in post-processing if they interfere with analysis.
Are uploaded legal documents kept confidential?
Files are processed server-side using temporary storage and are not retained after your session. Deliteful does not store uploaded documents persistently.
