Extract Contract Text from PDFs for Search and Redlining
Reviewing a 60-page contract when the PDF won't let you search or copy is a time drain no lawyer can afford. Deliteful's PDF to Text tool extracts every selectable character from your contract PDFs into clean UTF-8 text files — ready for keyword search, clause comparison, or pasting into your drafting workflow.
Contract lawyers routinely receive counterparty PDFs that are locked down or poorly formatted, making it impossible to locate indemnification language, governing law clauses, or termination triggers without scrolling page by page. Extracting the text layer turns a static document into something you can grep, search, or diff against a prior version in seconds.
Deliteful processes each PDF server-side and outputs a UTF-8 text file with preserved page breaks, so you always know which page a clause lives on. Files up to 300 MB are supported, and you can submit up to 50 PDFs in a single batch — useful when reviewing a full set of ancillary agreements at once.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I extract text from a scanned contract PDF?
- No — this tool extracts the embedded text layer only. Scanned PDFs without a text layer are not supported. For scanned documents, you need an OCR tool first.
- Will the clause numbering and page structure be preserved?
- Page breaks are preserved using standard separators so you can trace text back to its source page. However, visual layout, columns, and tables are not reproduced — output is linear plain text.
- How many contracts can I process at once?
- You can submit up to 50 PDF files per batch, with each file up to 300 MB. This covers most full agreement sets including schedules and exhibits.
- Is the extracted text safe to paste into my drafting software?
- Yes — output is clean UTF-8 text. Some complex PDFs may produce minor fragmentation in headers or footnotes, so a quick scan before pasting into a template is good practice.
